About Jared Crider
Hailing from Spokane, Washington, Jared's journey into the world of professional music began at the young age of 16. Throughout his high school years, he garnered numerous soloist awards at international festivals across the United States and Canada, showcasing his exceptional talents in both jazz and classical music.
In 2017, Jared embarked on his academic pursuit at the University of Idaho, where he pursued a Bachelor's degree in trumpet performance with a minor in jazz studies. During his tenure there, he honed his skills as a versatile musician and achieved significant milestones. Notably, he clinched the coveted jazz soloist title at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in both 2019 and 2020 and emerged as a quarterfinalist in the 2019 National Trumpet Competition's small ensemble category. His prowess even earned him an invitation to perform at the prestigious 2018 International Trumpet Guild Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
Jared's dedication to his professional music career began to flourish during his time at the University of Idaho, leading him to embark on tours across the United States. In 2019, he joined forces with the renowned ensemble "Kalimba: the Spirit of Earth Wind & Fire," the nation's premier Earth Wind and Fire tribute band, boasting former members of Earth Wind and Fire. Their global touring schedule took Jared as far as Egypt in 2023, solidifying his reputation as a versatile and accomplished musician.
In 2021, Jared elevated his musical journey by pursuing a Master's Degree in Jazz Studies at the University of Northern Colorado, successfully graduating in May 2023. During his time at the university, he had the privilege of performing with the illustrious Lab Band 1 for two years, among other esteemed ensembles. His contributions were instrumental in securing four Downbeat awards, including recognition for his own arrangements in the Funk Lab ensemble. Additionally, he had the unique opportunity to collaborate with luminaries such as singer Carmen Bradford from the Count Basie Orchestra and NEA Jazzmaster Sheila Jordan. In a crowning achievement, the Lab Band 1 embarked on an international journey to the Dominican Republic in 2023, where they performed at the prestigious Teatro Nacional Eduardo Brito in Santo Domingo.
Throughout his collegiate journey, Jared remained deeply committed to education, imparting his knowledge and passion to students ranging from 8 to 72 years old. At the University of Idaho, he served as the trumpet instructor for the University of Idaho Preparatory Division and engaged with local middle school and high school students. His dedication continued at the University of Northern Colorado, where he held the role of Teaching Assistant, directed multiple bands, and provided private instruction.
Currently, Jared calls the Denver area home, where he continues to make his mark as a professional musician, both locally and internationally, all while nurturing his role as an inspiring educator.
